Died on this date – 18th January.... Private Edward Wake was born at Scottsdale, Tasmania in 1884. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 6th May, 1915 as a 30 year old, married, Painter & Decorator from Felton, Carrington Road, Randwick, Sydney, NSW.

Private Edward Wake embarked from Sydney, NSW on RMS Mooltan on 15th May, 1915 with the 3rd Australian General Hospital, Australian Army Medical Corps.

Private Edward Wake proceeded to join M.E.F. (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force) at Gallipoli in August, 1915. He was admitted to 3rd Australian General Hospital at Mudros on 9th September, 1915 with Enteric.

Private Wake was again admitted to 3rd Australian General Hospital at Mudros West on 2nd October, 1915. He was transferred to Base on 3rd November, 1915 due to ill health & was invalided to England on Hospital Ship Mauretania & disembarked in England on 11th November, 1915.

Private Edward Wake died at 12 noon on 18th January, 1916 at Milton Infirmary Section, 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England from Enteric Fever.

Private Edward was buried in Milton Cemetery, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England where 11 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
