William Traill APPLETON was born on 20th April, 1883 in Geelong, Victoria
His parents were William Thomas APPLETON and Elizabeth TRAILL
He attended Melbourne Church of England Grammar School from 1898. He was manager of Huddart Park & Co. Ltd. when he enlisted. He joined the 7th Battalionand after being in camp for some tiem, on 16th July 1915 gained a commission. He was killed in the Pozieres fighting.
