Arthur Johnson served in the Boer War in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushman No.168.He enlisted for WW1 in 1915, as a single man even though he was married at the time to Annie (nee Hamrey) with 4 children. He had told his wife that he was 'looking for work' .This created a huge problem for his wife when claiming a pension for herself and her children, where she had to prove that they were married in 1903.Arthur Johnson was a tall man at 6ft.He was killed in the Battle of Lone Pine on Aug 8th 1915.
