Biography

"...255 Driver (Dvr) Clive Winchcombe Gregory, 1st Divisional Train, Australian Army Service Corps, of Kogarah, NSW. He worked around the Bonalbo area of NSW and describes himself on his enlistment papers as a bushman, horse breaker, selector, cattle and horse breeder. He had also been a competitive yachtsman. Dvr Gregory enlisted in August 1914 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Afric (A19) on 18 October 1914. Dvr Gregory was killed in action at Gallipoli on 21 May 1915. He was 27 years of age. Dvr Gregory's brother was Lieutenant Leslie Winchcombe Gregory, Australian Flying Corps, who returned to Australia in March 1919. The brothers were cousins to Lieutenant Colonel Owen Glendower Howell-Price DSO MC, Commanding 3rd Battalion Australian Infantry, died of wounds 4 November 1916; Major Philip Llewellyn Howell-Price DSO MC, 1st Battalion, died 4 October 1917; 2nd Lieutenant Richmond Gordon Howell-Price MC, 1st Battalion, died of wounds 4 May 1917; Major Frederick Philmore Howell-Price DSO, returned to Australia 20 May 1919." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
