On enlisting Roderick was 23yrs 1mth old; single; 5' 2" tall; 144 pounds; fair complexion; hazel eyes; light brown hair; Anglican; working as a bank accountant; living with mother at Magill.

23/7/1915      Enlisted at Keswick South Australia
27/10/1915    Embarked from Outer Harbour onboard HMAT A24 Benalla
                     Private with 3rd Light Horse Brigade, 9th Light Horse Regiment, 11th Reinforcements
27/1/1916      mumps, Heliopolis
9/2/1916        returned to duty
28/10/1916     transferred to 9th regiment, Moascar
19/4/1917      wounded in action - gun shot wound to head, chest & right arm and shoulder,
                      received near Gaza, Palestine evacuated to hospital
11/7/1917       Embarked at Suez, Egypt onboard Port Sydney, for return to Australia
19/11/1917     discharged (total service 2yrs 120 days)
