He is one of 16 Australian soldier casualties of the Great War who are honoured on the Mayo Great War Memorial in Mayo Peace Park, Garden of Remembrance, Lannagh Road, Castlebar, County Mayo.
Usually the name appears because the casualty was born in the area or his parents lived there but sometimes the association rests with the fact that the casualty was educated in the district.
He was 36 and the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, of 53, Caversham St., East Perth, Western Australia.

Unit embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 22 May 1917. Disembarked Suez, 20 June 1917, and marched into Isolation Camp, Moascar, the same day.
Age at embarkation 33.
Marched into Anzac Reserve Depot, Abbassia, 16 July 1917.
Posted to No 4 Bn, Imperial Camel Bde, 23 August 1917; taken on strength of 17th Company, 4 Bn, Imperial Camel Brigade, 27 August 1917.
Wounded in action, 4 December 1917, but remained on duty.
To Port Said Rest Camp, 26 February 1918; rejoined unit, 11 March 1918.

Quneitra or Kuneitra is the largely destroyed and abandoned capital of the Quneitra Governorate in south-western Syria. It is situated in a high valley in the Golan Heights at 1,010 metres above sea level.
