George was the fifth of eight children of John Brennan (born 1845 at Vasse in WA) and Catherine (Kate) dawson (born 1857 in Vasse in WA). John and Kate married in Busselton in 1879 and raised their family in the region.
George married Mary Catherine Herlihy (born 1883 in perth, WA) in 1911 in Perth, and was working as a Sleeper Hewer in Busselton when he enlisted in the AIF in 1915. George served with 4th Reinforcements 28th Infantry Battalion and 51st Infantry Battalion as a Private (Service No: 3487) and was Discharged in June 1916 (Medical)
George's brothers also served in WWI - Peter (Service No: 15146); Edward John (Service No: 1020); and James Vincent (Service No: 3024). Youngest brother Matthew served with the ACMF (Service No: W83925), and nephew Vincent Sydney Brennan served with 2/3 Field Regiment as a Driver (Service No: WX71). Vincent was captured in Crete in 1941 and was a PoW at Stalag VII in Moosburg in Germany.
George returned to Perth and commenced working for the WA Government Railways as a Porter in 1916. He remained in various positions with the WAGR (Cleaner, Shunter, Watchman and Goods Porter) apart from a short period in the 1930s when he lived in Augusta, WA as a Pensioner.
During WWI, George served with the ACMF as a Private (Service No: W232729) with Camp HD Headquarters. Mary died in Perth in 1948, and George in 1967.
