Son of Thomas Telfer, Yarrowee Street, Sebastopol, Victoria

Robin Gordon Telfer (SN 85) was born in Ballarat and was living in Yarrowee Street, Sebastopol, when as a 19-year-old, single, Blacksmith he enlisted on 24th August 1914. Having served for a year in Ballarat’s 70th Infantry, he was initially allocated to the 8th Battalion. In France, on 20th April 1916, Robin was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the 2nd Aust Lt Trench Mortar. Robin was killed in action in France on 18th August 1916. Robin has no known grave and is recorded on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.

Cpl Robin G. Telfer, killed in action in France on 18th August, was employed at Cowley's Foundry when he enlisted two years ago. He was only about 19 years old. He left in October with the 8th Battalion under Col Bolton, and was in the trenches at Gallipoli.
