Son of Henry Joseph Vernon and Mary Jane Vernon nee Thomas of Beaufort House, Ballarat, Victoria. Brother of Louis Henry Vernon who returned to Australia on 4 February 1920 having served with Australian Flying Corps.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 April 1919 aboard HT Trasos Montes disembarking on 22 May 1919
