William Wallace Hopkins AYRE was born in Somerton, Somerset, England on 24th April, 1883
His parents were William AYRE & Blanche WOOD
He enlisted in Townsville on 14th December, 1914 and embarked with the 9th Infantry Battalion, 3rd reinforcements from Brisbane on the HMAT Seang Choon on 13th February, 1915
William died from Pneumonia on 9th May, 1916 and is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery
