He was a cousin of Private John Robert Biglands, Service Number 2240, 32nd Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F. who died in service in England on 01/02/1917. John was 29 and the son of George and Margaret Biglands; husband of Christina Florence Bigland, of Montpelier Square, Portland, South Australia.
