Matron Acres' Death
The announcement in yesterday's "Advocate" of the death in Melbourne of Miss Linda Acres came as a shock, as it is only a few months since deceased left here for the mainland. For nearly twelve months Miss Acres was matron of the local hospital, and her management of the business side of the institution was particularly noteworthy. It is understood that since her departure from Ulverstone she had to undergo an operation. The late Miss Acres served as a sister in the A.I.F.

Regret was felt in Ulverstone yesterday (writes our Ulverstone correspondent) when it was known that Matron Linda Acres had died at the Caulfield Repatriation Hospital, Victoria. For a considerable time, and until a few months ago, Matron Acres had been matron at the Ulverstone General Hospital. During her stay there she proved a devoted worker in the interests of the hospital, and many of the recent improvements were largely due to her energy in canvassing for funds. She had a long career of usefulness to her credit, having been for many years matron of the Beaconsfield Hospital. She served with credit also at the war as an army nurse.
