Military Cross
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As engineer reconnaissance Officer, he carried out his work in a most expeditious and capable manner, and his reports were of great assistance. A large proportion of the work was carried out under very heavy shell fire, and he showed great courage and resourcefullness in obtaining information.'
