ANDERSON, Albert Leslie (1888-1942)

Born at Dimboola on 4 February 1888, he was the son of William Anderson and Rachel nee Dean. In 1903, he entered Geelong College to commence his education. His address at enrolment was 76 Skene St, Geelong. In 1903, he was awarded 2nd prize in Scripture in the Middle 4th Class.

He was working as a bank accountant prior to enlistment (No 24370) during World War I in the AIF in Geelong on 6 May 1916. He embarked for Egypt as a gunner with No 1 Section, 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column, from Melbourne on HMAT A37 Barambah on 27 June, 1916, and served in France from 24 November 1916. He took leave to England late in January 1918, and again in December, 1918. He returned to Australia on HMT Borda, embarking on 11 May 1919.
He died in 1942.
