Christie Archibald BENHAM was born on 22nd October, 1893 at South Sea, Portsea Island, Hampshire, England

His parents were George BENHAM and Jemima WIDGERY who married in England in 1889

He enlisted in Sydney RAS showground camp and embarked on 10th May, 1917 for Suez with the 7th Light Horse Regiment on the ship HMAT Boorara from Melbourne

Christie was Killed in Action in Palestine on 14th November, 1917 & buried in a valley a half mile east of Keyayeh & Julis in Palestine - his grave was marked with a wooden cross - its location is no longer known

His name is memorialised on the Jerusalem Memorial & the Australian War Memorial
