William Thomas ELLIS married Gertrude Christina McGUIRE in Tasmania, in approximately late 1917. Gertrude passed away on 8th December 1928, aged 36 (per death notice in "The Mercury" of 10th December 1928).
William received the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, and was mentioned in despatches for his service in WW1.
Following the end of the War, he was on the Reserve of Officers list, before joining the Militia in which he served as a Warrant Officer Class 2 in the Australian Instructional Corps in 1921 (per Commonwealth of Australia Gazette of 8 December 1921). He went on to become part of the "12th Mixed Brigade" in Tasmania, according to records held by the National Archives of Australia which are not yet digitised.
