Awarded Military Cross

From 26th February to date, this Officer's work has been most consistent and thorough. He has been doing duty on the Supply side and attached to Headquarters of the Train. He has carried out the duties of S.S.O. of the Division for short periods most satisfactorily and I cannot speak too highly of the most careful manner he has always dealt with many difficult problems.

Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of John Richard ABEY and Charlotte nee WRIGHT

Awarded the Military Cross in the field by King George V on 01 January 1918. He lated refused to exchange it for the offical medal engraved with his name and unit because of the sentimental vaule attached to the one he received directly from the King.

On his return to Australia he was manage at the bank at Longford before being promoted as Bank Inspector in Western Australia.  He retired to Dalkeith WA where he died in 1971
