Richard Leslie Oliver BUTTERS was born in Cross Forrest Roads, Cobden, Victoria in 1893
His parents were Richard BUTTERS & Susannah LINGENBERG who married in Victoria in 1890
He enlisted in Melbourne on 31st January, 1917 as a Private and embarked with the Camel Corp, 16th reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Boorara on 10th May, 1917
Richard died of dysentry & a liver abscess on 22nd November, 1918 and is buried in the Beirut War Cemetery - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
