Biography

Arthur Inkster BARNS (1896-1917)

His parents were William Alfred BARNS and Isabella INKSTER

Arthur Inkster Barns, 32nd Battalion. A farmer from Colton, South Australia, prior to enlistment he embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 12th August 1916 aboard HMAT Ballarat for Devonport, England. After training in England he joined his battalion on the Western Front, France, in early February 1917. Private Barns was killed in action near Albert, France, and is buried in the Bancourt British Cemetery. He was aged 20 years.

Arthur had been a Boarder at Prince Alfred College.
