Enlisted 30/01/1915, age 28, at Liverpool, New South Wales.
Embarked 25/06/1915 on ship HMAT Ceramic No. A40 from Sydney.
Buried at sea between ANZAC Alexandria and Malta on 11/08/1915.
Son of Thomas (a farmer) and Mary Ayscough of Saltfleetby Road, Manby.
He is honoured on the war memorial for World War found on the left hand wall inside St Mary’s Church, Carlton Road, Manby. It is in the form of a wooden plaque, ornately decorated with a further brass plaque inset containing the inscription and the names of the fallen. The memorial is split into three columns, two columns list those who served and one column lists those who gave their lives.
