BIOGRAPHICAL PARTICULARS

MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES.

The "Commonwealth Gazette" of April 6 contains a copy of a dispatch from Sir Ian Hamilton, in which the commander mentions Private W. N. Morrison, of the 9th Light Horse, for distinguished service. Private Morrison is a South Australian. He was born at Duck Ponds, near Port Lincoln, 21 years ago. On two previous occasions he received mention for gallantry at Gallipoli. At present he is in Harefield Hospital, recovering from a wound in the left arm. His father and two brothers are also in the Australian army.

PTE. W. MORRISON.

It has been reported that Pte. W. N. Morrison, of Port Lincoln, has been honoured by His Majesty the King for conspicuous services rendered while on the Gallipoli Peninsula. He has been mentioned on two occasions in Sir Ian Hamilton's lists. Pte. Morrison, who is 21 years of age, was born in the Port Lincoln district. He received his education at the local State school during the time that Mr. J. C. Richardson was head master. He is now in Harefield Hospital, suffering from a wound in the left arm. He has two brothers at the front, and his father is at present spending his long leave in Port Lincoln, prior to leaving.
