Remaining behind with his disabled lorry until assistance could arrive, Sapper Ford fell asleep in the back of the vehicle and was found dead of exposure to the cold the following morning. Further details available on his Red Cross File (www.awm.gov.au)
"FORD.— Killed in action in France, March 13, 1917, Sapper Roger Ford, aged 34 years, beloved husband of Gertrude Ford, of 29 Falcon-street, North Sydney, left a widow and 6 children; second son of Mrs. and James Ford, J.P., of Ourimbah-road, Mosman.
