Robert's parents, John Dillaway & Clara Voolvin came out to Australia in 1910 with their children and settled at Redcliffe. Robert attended Humpybong State School and enlisted in March 1916. On his return from war Robert married Martha Pieper in 1920. He purchased land at Scarborough fronting Griffith and Scarborough Roads where he farmed until about 1941 when he and his family moved from the area.
