17 Jun 1919:	Honoured Military Medal, "For gallantry and bravery in the operations near JONCOURT, north of ST. QUENTIN, on 3rd and 5th October, 1918. On 3rd October his company met unbroken wire and came under heavy machine gun fire. Pte. JONES, carrying his Lewis Gun, picked his way through the wire, then dropped to the ground, and with his gun put the whole of an enemy machine gun crew out of action. On 5th October when his company was sent to reinforce the line in front of MONTBREHAIN, Pte JONES was detailed to a post in a house. During a strong enemy counter attack he rushed out of the house and with his Lewis gun in the open in full view of the enemy, fired several magazines with deadly effect."
