2nd Lieutenant Maud Clow Hamilton

2nd LT Maud Hamilton AANS completed her RN qualification at Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne of 1918.

Younger sister of Iver Clow Hamilton ( TPR 536 late of the 8th Light Horse).

On Iver's discharge form the AIF in April 1918 Maud applied for a commission in the AANS and was appointed as a 2nd Lieutenant in the AIF.

Posted to the nursing staff of the British Forces in Salonika on sailing to the posting in late October 1918 Turkish Forces surrendered to Allies. In early November of 1918 and at sea the transport ship was redirected to Fremantle Australia . Where Nursing Staff disembarked to man the Quarantine station at Woodsman Point south of Fremantle Western Australia. Here AANS staff tendered to returning AIF members who had being diagnosed with the Spanish flu. Once the epidemic was officially over ANNS staff were returned to home station for discharge.

In the 1920's Maud Hamilton married 2nd Lieutenant (Pilot) Allan Stevenson ( late of 4 Squadron AIF). On his return from occupation duties in Germany.

In WW2 Maud Stevenson volunteered for service with Australian Red Cross Organisation in Melbourne. Serving from 1942 to 1945.
