Cemetery details: Daours Communal Cemetery Extension, Daours, Picardie, France (Plot 7, Row A, Grave 58)
"General regret was expressed throughout the Queen's Park district on receipt of the news that Sergeant Gordon Bishop was killed in action while gallantly fighting in the open on the 30th ult. His brother Fred, also a sergeant, was killed in action a few weeks ago. Both enlisted in the early days of the war, and each received promotion on the battlefield after having been twice wounded. A third brother, Private Albert Bishop, of Claremont, was severely gassed and invalided home early this year. Sergeant Gordon Bishop, like his brother Fred, was a fine all-round athlete, and member of the local fire brigade, cricket, football, and other clubs. An in memoriam service will be held in the Queen's Park Congregational Church, on Sunday." - from the West Australian 12 Sep 1918 (nla.gov.au)
Gordons' brother, 1897 Sgt. Frederick James Bishop (/explore/people/315664), was also a Sergeant in the 32nd Batallion who was killed in action on 23 June 1918.
