"LATE PTE. A. J. BRADEY.
Cr. W. Bradey, of Bradey street, Mitcham, has been officially notified that his son, Pte. A. J. Bradey (Alf), has been killed in action in France. The deceased, who died on September 2, left South Australia in January last. Although only 23 years of age he took a keen interest in the welfare of Mitcham, and among the residents he was extremely popular, being of a bright, generous disposition. He was Past President of the juvenile branch of the Manchester Unity Lodge, and at the age of 21 had passed through all the chairs in the adult lodge. At the time of enlisting he was Secretary of that body. He was captain of the Mitcham Boys' Club basket ball team, and one of the best players in the association. He also captained the St. Michael's Football Club, was a member of St. Michael's Church, and a member of the Church of England Men's Society." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 14 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
