He served with the 1st Australian Light Horse-Service Number 579.
He was 35 and the son of Charles James Auger of 34 Pyrmont Road, Ilford, Essex, England. He had served with the Kings Royal Rifle Corps and enlisted in the AIF in Sydney in September 1914. He had been wounded [GSW] at Gallipoli, but died of an unrelated cause.
In the United Kingdom he is commemorated in the Ilford War Memorial Gazette, in the Ilford War Memorial Hall and on the St Mary The Virgin Church War Memorial Plaque in Ilford.
It is believed that he was Frederick John Auger-as per the following birth record.
