Loftus Robert BAUCHOP was born in Wangaratta, Victoria in 1894

His parents were George Coward BAUCHOP & Margaret COLVILLE

He enlisted to serve during WW1 on 16th February, 1917 and embarked from Melbourne with the 14th Infantry Battalion, 25th reinforcements on the HMAT Nestor on 21st November, 1917

Loftus was Killed in Action in France on 20th September, 1918 and is buried in the Bellicourt British Cemetery

His headstone reads:

HE SLEEPS NOT IN HIS NATIVE LAND

BUT UNDER FOREIGN SKIES

FAR FROM THOSE WHO LOVE HIM
