Served and suffered during The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery, Honour and Dignity to be restored.

82 years ago today, on the Wednesday afternoon of the 24th July 1940, Private Arthur Valentine Baldwin, also known as Frank, 12th Australian Light Horse Regiment (Reg No-10), bushman and station hand from Walter Street, Glen Innes, New South Wales and Gunnedah, N.S.W. and Moree, N.S.W. and Mayfield, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 60. ANGLICAN 3-155. 6.

Born at Wellingrove, New South Wales on the 14th February 1880 to Augustus Percy and Mary Ellen Baldwin nee Brown; husband of Nora Elizabeth Baldwin nee Day (married 1922 as Frank, Manilla, N.S.W., died 1930, Manilla, as Norah E), Frank enlisted February 1915 at Liverpool, N.S.W.

Frank's name associated with the Glen Innes School of Arts, also Frank's name inscribed on the Glen Innes District School Honor Roll.  Frank and his brother Harvest have their names inscribed on the Glen Innes Public School, Red Range, Honor Roll.

Admitted to hospital 6.9.1917 (abscess, left elbow), 28.3.1918 (tonsillitis), 21.6.1918 (pyrexia), 9.2.1919 (malaria).

Frank was invalided home May 1919, being discharged medically unfit (malaria) on the 17th July 1919.
Younger brother Charles Dudley (Reg No-1692, 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, born 1894, died 1961, Mt Gravatt, Brisbane, QLD) also served 1st A.I.F.

Younger brother Jack Gordon (Reg No-1691, 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, born 1895, died 1968, Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Victoria) also served 1st A.I.F.

Younger brother Harvest Irwin (Harvey, Reg No-6964, 7th & 45th Battalions, born 1884, died 1957, Broadford, VIC) also served 1st A.I.F.

Mr. Baldwin’s name has been inscribed on the Glen Innes Anzac Park First World War Memorial Gates, Glen Innes & District Soldiers' Memorial, Glen Innes District First World War Roll of Honour (photo, 410 names inscribed) and the Glen Innes Public School, Red Range, Honor Roll.

I placed a cross at this Digger’s unmarked grave December 2020, and submitted an application December 2020 to DVA asking for a Commonwealth War Graves Plaque, curbing and marble chip, and this was accepted May 2021.

I will post photos when gravesite complete.
