"THE LATE PRIVATE BRADLEY.
Mrs T. A. Bradley, of Balonne St., Narrabrl, has received a letter from Lieut-Col. Morshead, relative to the death of her husband, Private Thomas Albert Bradley. The letter is dated July 2nd, and was written in France. Following is the text of the missive:—
"I very much regret not having written to you before this to express my deepest sympathy with you in the death of your gallant husband. No. 2427. Pte. Thomas Albert Bradley. I have been a casualty, and have just returned. Your husband was killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux on April 4th. Throughout the time he served with us in the field, your late husband did exceptionally fine work. In action he distinguished himself by his courage and determination. At all times he was reliable, a hard and cheerful worker, honorable and manly. He had a very high sense of duty and by his splendid conduct, set us all a very fine example. I deeply deplore the loss of such an excellent soldier. Officers, non-commissioned officers and men all join me in offering you and your family most heartfelt sympathy in this, your very sad bereavement." - from the North Western Courier 03 Oct 1918 (nla.gov.au)
