Hallett Presentation Burra Record (Extract) 22 May 1918
The Welcome Home Committee had decided to give all boys who enlisted from here, an inscribed gold medal on their return home, and in the event of their death, it is to be given to their mothers.
Bombardier Bert Bass went away in October, 1915, and was killed in France in 1917, his mother received the medal.
