War Service/Promotions: By 31 July 1916 in Chisleden, Egypt. On 7 September 1916 marched out to 49th Battalion. On 8 January 1917 proceeeding overseas per SS Princess Henrietta to Folkstone, Kent, England. On 13 January 1917 marched in from 13th to Etaples, France, and then on the 20 January, Taken on Strength in the Field. On 8 February 1919, he was appointed Lance Sergeant. (A lance sergeant (LSgt or L/Sgt) in the armies of the Commonwealth is a corporal acting in the rank of sergeant.)
Fate: Returned to Australia per HMAT A28 Militiades, 19June 1919. He married Olga Christensen, 24 January 1923, in the Anglican Church, Bundaberg, Qld.
