Distinguished Conduct Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at a critical moment during the firing of a barrage by his battery. A shell having burst near a gun and caused casualties which would have affected the barrage, he ran to the rescue and worked the gun until more men arrived.'
