Two brothers killed at Fromelles, McManus, 3831 Pte. Patrick John, 60th Bn. AIF. Killed in action 19th July, 1916. Age 24. McManus, 2719 Pte. Samuel Paul, 60th Bn. AIF. Killed in action 19th July, 1916. Age 20. A third brother 3888 Pte. Alfred McManus 22nd Bn AIF, was wounded in action at Pozieres, a gunshot wound to the arm, and was eventually sent home for family reasons in June of 1918, after it was discovered that his two younger brothers had already been killed.
