Darrell Elwyn Hodgson FOWLER was born in Bulli, NSW in 1890

His parents were Frederick John FOWLER & Annie Maria HODGSON

He enlisted in Sydney on 8th May, 1916 and embarked from Melbourne on the RMS Malwa on 25th July, 1916 with the General Reinforcements of the 1st Australian & New Zealand Wireless Signal Squadron

Darrell was taken ill with smallpox & sent to the casualty clearing station and was transferred to Isolation in the Baghdad Hospital

He died of his Illness on 22nd January, 1918 and is buried in the Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery
