30 Sep 1916: | Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 2378, 47th Infantry Battalion, Upon arriving in Freemantle on 30th September 1916, Private Anderson was preparing to go ashore on leave before embarkation overseas. As he was leaving the ship, he jumped from the deck of the ship onto the deck of the tug boat that was waiting to transport the men ashore. The impact of the landing and the manner in which he landed broke his left leg. Private Anderson was admitted to hospital and once recovered returned to Brisbane where he was discharged as medically unfit. | |
