'OBITUARY
WILLIAM JOHN BRADFORD.
There was a large and representative attendance at the funeral of the late William John Bradford yesterday afternoon. Deceased, who was 57 years, was a native of Mackay, being the son of Mr. George Bradford, of Marian, and the late Mrs. Bradford. As a youth he was employed at Shepherd's Anvil Stores, and with the exception of the period he served with the AIF In the last war he remained with the firm, occupying the position of manager of the hardware department. In his youth he was an outstanding sportsman, particularly In the realm of cricket, and later was an active bowler, being a member of the Mackay Club.
For some time he had not enjoyed the best of health and about 12 months ago underwent an operation In Brisbane for an internal complaint. About a month ago, there was a recurrence of the illness which resulted in his passing. Services at the home in Othello-street and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. E. Potter, and the Last Post was sounded by Mr. C. Graham in memory of a soldier who had passed on. Pallbearers were — Messrs. H. Flohr, K. McKerihan (Anvil Stores), H. Cooling (RSSIL), T. Calder (ARP), and Messrs. L. P. Byrne and W. Hanson. The Oddfellows' Lodge, of which deceased was a member, was well represented, also members and runners of No. 8 Warden's Post.
