Flying Officer Killed
ACCIDENT DURING HOLIDAY.
SYDNEY. Sunday.
William Valentine Herbert, 48, R.A.A.F. flying officer, was fatally injured today When he fell 35 feet over a cliff at Newport. He suffered a fractured skull and died while ambulance men were forcing a path through dense bush in an effort to reach him. Herbert, who was attached to the Narellan flying training school, had been holidaying with his sons at Newport. His son, William George Herbert, 17, was with him when he fell and he ran a mile for assistance. The body lodged on a rock ledge.
