Lawrence Rheuben BOUTLE was born in Dullage (Dulwich) London, England in 1899

His parents were William Walter BOUTLE & Jane Ann DAVIES

He arrived in Brisbane, Australia with his parents & siblings on the ship Perthshire on 26th December, 1910

He served with the Senior Cadets before he enlisted in Cairns, Queensland on 21st April, 1917 and embarked from Sydney on 14th June, 1917 on the ship HMAT Hororata with the 9th Australian Infantry Battalion, 25th reinforcements - he was transferred to the 41st Infantry Battalion on 24th December, 1917

Lawrence was Killed in Action in France on 28th March, 1918 and is buried in the Villers Bretonneux Military Cemetery (Plot IX, Row B, Grave 3)

His belongings which were being returned to Australia were all lost at sea when the ship Barunga was sunk by enemy action
