Son of John Symons and Matilda Jane Symons nee Pendle of Morgan, SA formerly of Burnside, SA
On 28 July 1920 John married Agnes Miller in Pt Pirie St. Andrews Presbyterian Church whom he later divorce.
He later re-married to Carrie Miriam Symons and place of residence at the time of his death was a Manningham, SA
