Memorialised at Sandgate Cemetery, never forgotten.

105 years ago today, on the 4th October 1917, Sergeant James Fisher, 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group (Reg No-504), engineer (A. Goninan and Company, Fitting Department), from 69 Victoria Street, Adamstown, New South Wales, Died of Wounds at the Battle of Broodseinde (GSW or shell wounds, right leg, 44th Casualty Clearing Station), Passchendaele Campaign, age 22 years 11 months.

Born at Adamstown, New South Wales on the 11th November 1894 to John (died 11.8.1929) and Mary Jane Fisher (died 24.10.1940) also of Thomas Street, Adamstown, N.S.W., James enlisted July 1915 with the Siege Artillery Brigade at South Head, N.S.W.

Mr. Fisher’s name has been inscribed on the Adamstown Citizens' Memorial, Adamstown Municipal District Roll of Honor, Adamstown Methodist Church Honour Roll, Adamstown Independent Order of Rechabites, Hope of Adamstown Tent No. 76 Honour Roll (photo courtesy of Marion Davis, unveiled on the 25th April 1921, 31 names inscribed, 8 Fallen, whereabouts unknown), A. Goninan and Company Roll of Honour, 3rd Australian Garrison Artillery Roll of Honour and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.

James has been memorialised on parents’ headstone, and I have poppies at the gravesite in remembrance of their son’s service and supreme sacrifice for God, King & Country. METHODIST 2 (PRIMITIVE) 5 SW. 2.
