Private Alexander Benjamin ERICKSON was the fourth son of John ERICKSON and Mary Jane PAYNTER, and was known as Ben.
Ben enlisted in August 1915, six weeks after his younger brother, Private Ernest Reuben ERICKSON SN 2112, departed Australia.
In February and March 1918 both brothers were wounded by gas shelling in France. Ernest did not survive and died on 30th March 1918 whilst serving with the 16th Battalion.
Private Alexander Benjamin ERICKSON returned to Australia in 1919 and remained in Port Germein, South Australia until his death at the age of 60 on the 22nd September 1950. He was buried in the Port Pirie Cemetery.
