Grandson of well-known Richmond residents, who handed down to him the indominitable spirit of the pioneers of the earlier days, Private William Thomas. Stevenson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Steven son, of 12 Clifton-street, has now been officially reported killed ii action in France on September 26, 1917. He
was previously reported missing after the Polygon Wood engagement, where his brigade (the 8th Aust. Inf.) won imperishable honors. Young Stevenson (he was not quite 20 years
of age when he fell) was the grandson of Mr. W. Stevenson, dairyman, for over 20 years a resident of Church and Abinger streets, Richmond and who is an old soldier of an Irish regiment and fought in the New Zealand war. Mrs. Haysen, of Coppin-street, is his grandmother. A previous biographical note on Private Stevenson appeared in the "Guardian" in November.
