Cecil Parker ASHDOWN was born in 1897 in Bega, New South Wales
His parents were Edward Parker ASHDOWN and Florence Eleanor ALTESIECH who married in Sydney in 1876 - he was one of nine children, five of whom served in WW1 with two being Killed in Action including Cecil

Cecil is commemorated on the Holy Trinity Church Honour Roll in Orange NSW, where his father had been a church warden & on the west face of the Mosman War Memorial, Sydney & the Honour Rolls of Mosman Public School, St Clements Church and the Mosman Rugby Union Football Club.
He is also remembered on a commemorative plaque in the Orange Cemetery, NSW & also on the Roll of Honour at the Cenotaph in Orange, NSW
A tree was planted in his honour in 1923 in the Anzac Memorial Avenue along Bathurst Road amongst other planted in honour of fallen WW1 soldiers - very few remain today
