Biography contributed by Stephen Diver

Enlisted on the same day as his brother Pte Gresley HARPER. They were allocated sequential numbers 113 (Gresley) and 114. They were both attached to 10th Light Horse Regiment and were sadly killed in action, 7 August 1915. HIs Younger brother Pte. Prescot Henry Harper (3346) enlisted on 5 March 1917 and returned to Australia as a Lieutenant in June 1919.

NB His Story is Detailed in Author  Bill Gammage's Seminal and Timeless Work 'The Broken Years'. Bill also Wrote the Novel based on the Australian Movie 'Gallipoli' which is much more Detailed and Faithfull to His Real Story then the Movie itself was. The Novel Also had a Character in it Cut from the Film who was An Australian Army Nurse, and Detailed the Final Fate of those who Survived The Nek. For Example The Character Portrayed by Mel Gibson Survives the War, Opens a Shop to Sell Motor Vehicles in, has 2 Sons after getting Married who then are both Killed in the Next War.

As well as being Shown in Frank Lamberts Painting of the Attack on The Nek in 1915 and Mentioned in Charles Beans History of the Campagin, both Brothers were the Inspiration for the Movie Characters Archy and Frank, Archy's Final Horrifying Death Scene being based on both Lamberts Masterful Painting and Beans Emotion Fueled Words.
