Death of Rev. F Colwell
DEATH OF REV. F COLWELL
The death took place at Wahroonga on Monday last of Rev. Frederick Colwell, a former superintendent of the Central Methodist Mission at Newcastle. The deceased was born in Gloucester (England) in 1858, and came to Australia in 1877. After a short stay in Queensland he came to Sydney and entered the Methodist Church from Bourke Street Church during the ministry of Rev. Dr. Kelynack. During a ministry of over 40 years, the late Rev. Mr. Colwell filled many important positions apart from that held by him for five years in Newcastle. He was successively superintendent of the Wesleyan Church, and Waverley and Orange Methodist Church, and in 1915 was President of the Methodist Conference. As Captain-Chaplain he was abroad with the AIF and contracted a severe illness at Gallipoli. He took a trip to England last year for health reasons. He leaves a widow and two sons and two daughters. The Rev James Colwell, of Rozelle, is a brother.
