Son of William Ebenezer Barnett and Jane Barnett nee Kay of 20 Westbourne Grove, Northcote, Victoria. Brother of Elliott Alexander Barnett who died of Bronchial Pneumonia on 21 February 1919 having served with the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion and is buried in Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension
