Son of William and Mary Ann KEYTE, of Hutt, Western Australia.

His brother, 2932 Pte. Charles Cottrell Keyte 48th Battalion AIF, was later killed in action at Messines in Belgium, 10 July, 1917, aged 22.

Another brother, 2946 Private Francis Garrett Keyte, 16th Battalion AIF, was three times officially wounded, twice with shell shock at Pozieres during August 1916, and severe shrapnel wounds during February 1917. He was returned to Australia during early 1919.
