Arthur Allsopp, was the son of Sarah Allsopp and Joseph Allsopp, was born in the place called Ripley, (England). He was employed as a boilermaker, and worked as one for 8 years at the Butterley Company in Ripley, Derbyshire. After 31 years of peaceful life he decided to move to South Australia, Adelaide. When the First World War started he enlisted as a private on 26 May 1915 and embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board the HMAT Morea. During the war he served in Egypt, Gallipoli and Western Front. He was wounded twice, once in France on 23 of July 1916 (it was a general shrapnel wound to the face) and second time also in France but a year after, on 5 September 1917 (accidentally wounded in the hip by Pte Kelliher).He was killed in Action on 2nd of November in the year of 1917.
